THE A & R TIMES, JUNE 2005 Onyx/Debussy Preludes Recording ‘Here are all 24 of Debussy’s piano Preludes which paint fantastically subtle musical portraits of nature, exotic far-off places and contemporary life. Alison returns to the Old Granary with David Newton a highly respected pianist who has worked with the finest vocalists and instrumentalists in jazz and Chris Hill on bass. Surrounded by the surfeit of little girl voices prevalent in jazz today, it's almost a relief to encounter a mature but flexible voice like Alison Burns. Beyond the vocal quality is imaginative delivery and interpretation that comes from experience in life as well as performance. The way she weighs and colours the lyrics in her singing place her in rare company. At home in any setting, from festival and theatre stages to small, intimate venues, Alison Burns never fails to touch the audience with her soul-stirring performances. The concert will fearure a range of jazz standards old and new.

Welcome to our 2008 concert season at the Old Granary.
Once again we are proud to present an array of world famous musicians in a diverse range of concert programmes. Our patron Piers Lane who opens the season with a recital and a masterclass, has assisted in organizing a very special two piano recital with Noriko Ogawa and Kathryn Stott. Other highlights include clarinetist Emma Johnson, celebrated French pianist Pascal Roge with his duet partner Ami Hakuno and the return of the Pro-Arte Quartet lead by Kenneth Sillito. A special song recital is performed by international mezzo soprano Diana Moore, who is familiar to local audiences. A new resident of Norfolk is keyboard legend Rick Wakeman and we are thrilled that a special appearance has been arranged. For a concert of a completely different character we welcome the amazing ‘ Katzenjammer’ piano duet.
For the jazz enthusiasts Martin Taylor is back by popular demand for another unique evening of acoustic guitar, whilst vocalist Alison Burns also returns for our final concert in a trio performance of jazz favourites old and new.
New for this year is the availability of light pre-concert suppers typically a choice of fresh bread, salads and soups. These will be available an hour before the performance.
We would like to extend special thanks to Rosemary and Anthony de Vere and the Board of the ‘Friends of The Old Granary Studio Concerts Trust’ and indeed all the ‘Friends’ whose contributions and fund raising have made some of the concerts possible. Also to our patron Piers Lane, our President Sir Nicholas Bacon and our many friends and helpers who contribute in countless ways.
