In common with other great artists such as Jaqueline du Pre and Shura Cherkasky, Angela Brownridge began her life in an atmosphere of freedom and individuality, virtually impossible to find today. In an age, which has become over-fascinated with mere technique, Angela Brownridge restores personality, character, and beauty of sound to the platform. A child prodigy, Angela studied in Edinburgh, Rome and London. Her performing career has taken her around the world and her extensive recordings have received wide praise, most recently her three CD set of the complete piano works of Kenneth Leighton. Angela is also in demand as an adjudicator and for her masterclasses and lecture recitals . Angela's programme is a selection of Gershwin song transcriptions, works by Leighton and Chopin and finishes with Liszt's legendary Sonata in B Minor.
Angela will also be giving a piano masterclass on Saturday 16th in the afternoon, funded by the Friends of The Old Granary Studio. Teachers, friends and observers will be welcome, please enquire for participant places and observer tickets. |
