The Old Granary Studio

The Old Granary is a restored 18th Century Norfolk barn set in the heart of rural South Norfolk and near to the Waveney Valley town of Beccles. Many world class musicians and ensembles have performed and recorded here and a selection of these are: Members of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, The Academy of St Martin in the Fields, The Sacconi Quartet, Piers Lane, Tasmin Little, John Lill, Melvyn Tan, Kathryn Stott, Benjamin Grosvenor, Freddy Kempf and Natalie Clein. Jazz artists include Martin Taylor, Julian Joseph, Jacqui Dankworth and The Royal Academy of Music jazz department with Stan Sulzmann. Legendary rock star Rick Wakeman is a annual peformer!

Please do look at our new season of varied concerts and we look forward to making you welcome, and giving you a very enjoyable concert going experience.

Studio recording
work continues on a regular basis and particularly the piano recording facilities are a unique kind as discovered by many artists. Examples of recently recorded piano discs are by Pascal Roge 'Poets du Piano', Rupert Egerton-Smith on Garat Records, Nigel Hess 'Silent Nights' and Rick Wakeman 'Always With You'. New releases are expected soon on the SOMM label including Martin Cousin and a continuing five disc project with Sten Lassmann, recording the complete works of Estonian composer Heino Eller on Toccata Classics.

Previous releases have been from a wide range of music genre with global sales such as the Aquinas Piano Trio (Ravel and Saint Saens), Plush Music TV (videos), Hayley Sanderson vocal from the BBC 'Strictly Come Dancing' show and Jeremy Limb with solo piano recordings of Ludovico Einaudi and Philip Glass. Emily Barker of folk hero fame recorded her album 'Despite The Snow' with her band The Red Clay Halo. The title of the album reflecting the wintery conditions at the time of recording.
